“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”  James 1:5

Thank you to everyone who prayed for us earlier this month when were in Hong Kong doing a visa renewal trip. We had the great opportunity to share at Hong Kong Alliance Bible Seminary and talk to the Intercultural Studies class about our Cambodian ministry and calling. Hong Kong was a nice break for us from the hot weather of Cambodia.  We are definitely thinking of our family and friends back home in Canada who have already had to deal with their fair share of snow this year.  In Cambodia the seasons are changing as well.  Last week we celebrated the Water Festival which is also the unofficial end of the rainy season (there are only 2 seasons here, wet and dry). The kids had a great time being tourists for a day and eating some good street food at the festival.  The end of the rainy season also brings with it some temporary cooler weather before it starts to get hotter again in a few months. We are grateful for days where we can wake up and feel a slight chill in the 25 degree air instead of the humid 40 degree air.  We’ve learn to appreciate these little things more and more recently.

Christmas is just over a month away and we have started planning for our Christmas program at Samaki church on Dec 22.  The children and youth have been practicing their songs and soon we will start practicing skits and putting up decorations. Please keep this program in your prayers as there is still lot to prepare for.  Pray for all the people participating but also pray that many family and friends will come out and be able to hear about God’s gift of his son Jesus Christ to us.

At the tutoring centre that we open from Tuesdays – Fridays, things are still falling into place.  We offer two sessions a day but the student numbers continue to fluctuate at times forcing us to make adjustments to the teaching schedule often.  Please continue to pray for the youth who are the teachers and for the young children who come and learn.  Pray that we can show the children God’s love through the love and patience we show them as we teach them.
Please also continue to pray for us as we discern better ways to connect with the adults in the community.  While we praise God for deepening some connections we have made over the past few months, we also have been struggling to keep up with some connections that we previously had.  Please pray for us to have the right words to say as we do visitations and have casual conversations with the many parents as they drop off and pick up their kids.  We pray that God will not only guide the connections we already have in the community but that He opens doors and leads us towards new people that we can connect with.  Please also keep praying for the adults in our church.  The numbers have also been fluctuating as they have been telling us that they have been busy with work, family and for some people, illnesses.  Pray that they can fully trust in God to provide for all their needs. Pray for us to have wisdom in how we respond to the many needs that they share with us.

From our family to yours, THANK YOU!!!  We are so thankful for your support of us as we serve here in Cambodia.  We still get excited, especially our kids, when we receive random emails and messages from people back home.

David, Joyce, Jadon, Josiah, Elisabeth.

Please continue to prayer for us in the coming weeks:

  • Pray for us as we continue to invite people to come to our Dec 22 Christmas program.
  • Pray for the tutoring centre and all the teens who are teaching.
  • Pray for our relationships and connections with adults in the community.
  • Pray for us to have wisdom in responding to the needs of the community.

Thanks again for journeying with us!
