““I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.”
Luke 2:10-11
We are now 10 days away from Christmas. While Christmas is a big thing back in Canada, here in Cambodia it means a little less to the locals as Christmas is not even an official holiday here. But for us here who know Jesus, it is an exciting time. Throughout these past weeks a thought that has been running through my mind (Dave) are the words of the angel to the shepherds in the field, “I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.”. The idea that there can be news that is of great joy for ALL THE PEOPLE is mind boggling when you think about it. But that is the amazing thing about the birth of Jesus Christ. It is GOOD NEWS that is for ALL PEOPLE.
The truth of what that means is a little more real for us this year as we find ourselves ministering here in Siem Reap to the Vietnamese people who live in Cambodia. The idea of ALL THE PEOPLE has hit home so much more when we look around us daily and see that when the angel said, “all the people” he really meant all the people. It is God’s desire that the Good News of Jesus Christ be shared and accepted by all people, regardless of age, social status or geography.
Today, we want to invite you to celebrate with us as this past week one more person in Cambodia, who is close to us, received the Good News and accepted Jesus as his Lord and Saviour. We met a local man named “K” about 5 months ago and have developed a relationship with him. When we met “K”, he was not a believer, but his wife was. This family, through their work, is connected to many missionary families in Cambodia. Many of us have been praying that “K” would come to faith. Well, that moment happened last week. Through a supernatural healing of his wife’s illness, “K” soon after accepted Jesus as his Saviour. When we heard of this news, our family was so excited.
Will you please continue to pray for “K” and his family? Praise God that he has accepted the Good News of great joy. Pray for a deepening of this faith and spiritual protection upon his family.
Pray with us as well during this Christmas season as many people will hear the message of Jesus birth over the next few weeks at various celebrations throughout the country. Pray that the message falls on fertile soil and takes root.
From our family to yours, Merry Christmas
Dave, Joyce, Jadon, Elisabeth and Josiah.
Thank you for your care and support. Your giving to GAF allows our presence to bring access to Jesus where few or none have heard. Your prayer strengthens us in His work. We truly couldn’t do this without you.
